Thirty years after the release of the cult film and eleven years after the death of Patrick Swayze, Lionsgate is launching a new production in which “Baby” will return.

“Now I've had the time of my life. No, I never felt like this before. ” More than thirty years later, the first notes do not disappoint. If it had received a less than enthusiastic reception when it was released in 1987, Dirty Dancing is now considered a cinema classic. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray have also entered the legend thanks to this famous final port. He died in 2009 at the age of 57 from pancreatic cancer. She did not have the career that was promised to her. But now an announcement could upset everything: Dirty Dancing will have a sequel, with Jennifer Gray.

On Thursday, the Deadline site confirmed, through Jon Feltheimer, the CEO of Lionsgate, that the sequel was in the pipes. Jonathan Levine ( Warm Bodies , The Night Before ) would be in charge, from a script by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis ( Two meters from you ), as for Jennifer Gray, she should resume her role of "Baby" and will be also executive producer of the film. "It will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that fans of the franchise have been waiting for," Jon Feltheimer revealed.

In 2017, a remake of Dirty Dancing totally missed the boat, with Colt Prattes and Abigail Breslin in the lead roles. Contacted to play another character, Jennifer Gray had declined, thus avoiding being part of the shipwreck. The film has also been adapted into a musical and a series.
