The protagonists of the story are two teenage elves, the sixteen-year-old Ian and his older brother, the 'hothead' Barley, who embark on an adventure to complete the spell thanks to which they can have their father, who died years before, back with them for a day. Among the Italian voice actors, Sabrina Ferilli, for the mother of the two elphiprotagonists, Laurel, Fabio Volo (voice of Ian eBarley's father), Favij (a sprite), David Parenzo (a waiter) and Raul Cremona (a sorcerer's apprentice). "Laurel is a mother who spurs, protects and helps her children, taking part in allowing them to create a beautiful spell," says Sabrina Ferilli. Onward is already considered epochal because it includes the first animated LGBT + character in a Pixar / Disney feature film: she is the cyclops policewoman Specter. “We wanted the worlds we created to be realistic and represent all diversity,” explains Scanlon.
