A dispensation from the prefect of Vendée allows the park to exceed the maximum capacity of 5,000 people for August 15.

While restrictions are piling up in other parts of France, the number of spectators is widening at Puy du Fou. The Prefect of Vendée signed last Monday an order allowing the famous park to accommodate up to 9,000 spectators on Saturday, according to France Bleu Loire Océan and Ouest-France. A decision that is reacting on social networks, while many Internet users recall, for example, the restrictions in football stadiums.

Indeed, from August 15, exemptions to the rule limiting gatherings to 5,000 people may be applied in the territory. Due to the poor circulation of Covid-19 in the region, the stands of the Cinéscénie, with a capacity of 14,000 spectators, will finally be able to accommodate up to 9,000 people.

Spectators divided into three groups

Visitors will be divided into three groups of 3,000 people, and the wearing of a mask will be compulsory from 11 years old. These grandstands will be separated by plexiglass walls two meters high. A hydroalcoholic solution will be distributed to each of the spectators, specifies the park in Ouest-France. On stage, the actors will remain masked, specifies France Bleu.

“For Cinéscénie, the idea is to see how things are going both on the spot but also in the evolution of the health situation. One thing is certain: the Puy du Fou will respect the law, ”assures the site's marketing and communications manager, David Nouaille, at Ouest-France.

A controversy had emerged last July after the broadcast of a video showing the Cinéscénie welcoming 12,000 people, while the stadiums remained closed and festivals were prohibited. The park then reversed its policy of welcoming the public, anticipating only 5,000 spectators the week that followed.
