Athletics show in the first post-Covid-19 Diamond League meeting, the Hercules in the Louis II stadium of the Principality of Monaco. Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei set the new world record of 5000 meters by winning the race over this distance with a time of 12'35''36.
    The previous record of 12'37''35 belonged to the Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele, who had obtained it sixteen years ago in Hengelo, Holland. For Cheptgei, today was the first race from February 16th to today. On that occasion, again in the Principality, the Ugandan had set a new 5 km road record.
