Reduction of production by 50%, distancing between the operating stations and reduction in the number of workers per shift. These are the decisions taken today during a summit convened by the Prefecture of Treviso with trade unions, health authorities and municipal authorities of Vazzola (Treviso) to deal with the management of the outbreak of Covid-19 infections among the employees of the Aia agri-food plant .
At the site, where 700 workers between direct operators and related workers work, to date there are 182 cases of positivity on the 560 tests performed (the missing people are generally absent for holidays), all asymptomatic and in quarantine.
A new screening will be performed next week with the use of the new rapid procedures, in the meantime the continuation of production has been established against a hypothesis of closure of the plant that had been ventilated in the last hours. The interruption of the slaughtering activity, it was in fact pointed out, would involve the killing of about 1.5 million poultry heads, an event that would have far-reaching repercussions on the health and hygiene front.
At the top were present, among others, the general manager of the health company Ulss n.2 of Treviso, Francesco Benazzi, and the mayor of Vazzola, Giovanni Zanon.
