(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 26 - Water suffering for the Maggiore and Lario lakes with a double-digit drop in filling, current special observations of the irrigation season in Northern Italy. Lake Iseo is also subdued, while the Garda continues to hold, the levels are still downhill. And while precipitation calanates in the Center, a drought season continues in the South. This is the situation drawn up by Anbi, the National Association of Consortia for the Management and Protection of the Territory and Irrigation Waters, as the summer season approaches. "The alarming consequences, including environmental ones, for the water condition of Lake Maggiore - declares the president Francesco Vincenzi - makes clear the need for a programming of releases that goes beyond any selfish logic in respecting the priorities on the use of water". Moving on to aifiumi, the Anbi reports that the flow rates of the Po are halved compared to the average but remain better than last year. Incalo also those of the main rivers of Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna but they are well above the seasonal average, but not below the historical minimum for the Rhine. The leopard-like rains are increasingly affecting water availability, recalls the Anbi, as evidenced also by the flow rates of the main Lombard and Venetian rivers. As for the Center, in the Lazio region the level of Lake Bracciano, however still higher than last year, and the flow of the Liri river are constantly decreasing, while in Campania the conditions of the Sele and the Volturno are comforting. Finally, in the South, the decline in water availability continues, especially in Basilicata and Puglia. As for the invasions of Sardinia, they remain in line with the 2019 availability, despite the fact that they score minus 8 million cubic meters in July.
