The former Miss France and Miss Universe also gives us her feelings on "the Miss Guadeloupe affair", tells about her complicated relationship with TF1 and reveals comedy projects.
What will “Chérie Lunch” look like?
IRIS MITTENAERE. I'll be alone in the driver's seat. It's going to be an hour of humor and sharing. I will discuss with the listeners and talk about subjects in the news as well as fashion, beauty as travel and unusual knowledge or other more serious subjects, as in the column (Editor's note: "Iris Coffee") that I will write for the morning. This week, I would have also mentioned the victory of Bayern against PSG, for example. Yep, I also watch football. Like many women. And, of course, we're gonna listen to my favorite playlists, from Lady Gaga to Michael Jackson to the Spice Girls. Does it make you envious ? (Laughs)
Doing radio was not necessarily in your plans ...
Chérie FM, whom I often listen to, had already contacted me last year. We had done some tests. I was pretty excited, but with my performances at the Latin Paradise, it was not compatible. In recent months, other radios have also approached me. I said “yes” to Chérie FM, which was my favorite. It is the right time. I manage to put my voice more down, it goes less in the treble. We will get to know me better than on TV or on social networks. Leaving my image aside, I would be more whole, more natural. I hope to break the prejudices. It's a hell of a challenge, a little stressful too.
The upsurge in Covid-19 cases has forced Karine Le Marchand to postpone its premiere on RTL, scheduled for Saturday. Does this concern you?

With Chérie FM, we discussed the possibility of producing the show from my home. But I am very careful, especially since I meet a lot of people. I always wear my mask when I go out, I always have hydroalcoholic gel. I do not embrace my family, whom I see very little. I also avoid the evenings with friends. I even canceled a vacation in Saint-Tropez last week.
On the TV side, you resume filming “Ninja Warrior” on September 15, after a five-month postponement. But still no show for you ...
It's frustrating! I am loyal to TF1, but I feel a little under-exploited, especially since I recently had proposals from other channels. I would like to try other things. At the beginning, I had signed an exclusive contract to multiply the experiences on the air. They know my desires. There were leads on TFX that didn't materialize. I can't harass them either. And there, with the Covid, it will be even more complicated. Fortunately, I have other activities than TF1. Otherwise, I would only have a week of work a year (laughs) .
Several Miss have recently expressed their support for Anaëlle Guimbi, dismissed a few hours before the election of Miss Guadeloupe for naked artistic photos intended for a campaign for the fight against cancer… What is your position?
I was shocked to learn of his eviction. But unlike other Misses, I didn't want to make any buzz about it. I preferred to call Sylvie Tellier, who put forward the regulation even if it starts from a malicious denunciation. If the election had taken place, the other candidates could have taken legal action to overturn it. That's a lot of money at stake. The contenders are desperate, sometimes it's hell behind the scenes. Even in my time, Sylvie received letters saying that I had fake breasts, a fake nose.
What would you have done in place of Sylvie Tellier?
For me, it is above all necessary to change the rules. That we delete the part on the naked photos, provided they are not pornographic. Just like the one on the imposed minimum size of 1m70 or the one on tattoos. Even surgery should not be a barrier, especially to open the competition to transgender people.
The other loser is the current Miss France, Clémence Botino, who has a very complicated reign ...
Between the Covid and the fire in her building, it is really not easy for her. Clémence is a little lost and has not been able to fully live her year. We try to advise her, but even for us, the situation is unprecedented. Fortunately, the post-Miss France is more interesting than the year of the coronation. You can get out of the mold and express your personality.

In mid-March, the Latin Paradise, of which you are the headliner, had to close due to the health crisis… A reopening in sight?
We hope. We plan to reset dates for people who had already reserved their place. It remains to wait for the government's announcements. For artists, it's not just lost dates, it's also days of rehearsals, training and more. This is a real topic for all those who were stopped while they were on stage.
For several months, you have been exposing your love life with Diego El Glaoui to the public, whereas you were very discreet before. Why this change?
So that the paparazzi leave me alone! At least I can handle what I want to show off with my sweetie. I am no longer seen in a swimsuit in positions that are not necessarily very elegant. And I can respond to nonsense. When we remain silent, we suffer all the bullshit we can read. It had become heavy.
After TV and radio, cinema, could that attract you?
Yes ! It was Kamel Ouali, the choreographer of Paradis Latin, who spotted my potential as an actress. I have also received great proposals that make me vibrate. But it will take time.
