Defender Maguire (right): "That means Harry has no criminal record and is again innocent"

Now the trial against Harry Maguire is being reopened in a higher court. The English national football player had previously appealed against the verdict, as the club announced according to British media.
The 27-year-old was found guilty in absentia on Tuesday by a Greek court of assaulting a police officer and trying to bribe officials. The court in Syros had sentenced Maguire to a suspended sentence of 21 months and 10 days. The professional footballer had denied all allegations.
Manchester United: Maguire "innocent again"
"According to the Greek judiciary, filing an appeal nullifies the original judgment and overturns the conviction," the statement by the English football champions said, the British media quoted as saying. "This means that Harry has no previous convictions and is again deemed innocent until proven guilty. Accordingly, he is not subject to any international travel restrictions."
The English national coach Gamet Southgate had nominated Maguire for the upcoming Nations League games in Iceland and Denmark on Tuesday, but canceled him the same evening after the verdict from Greece became known.
The background to the matter was a physical dispute between several parties, in which Maguire is said to have been involved. The 27-year-old was then provisionally arrested. According to his statement on Saturday, Maguire was allowed to leave Greece.
