Many of those affected just want to lie down and draw the curtains: Migraines can massively restrict everyday life.
If it occurs frequently, the following should be done.
Migraines affect millions of people in Germany - but how do you recognize the attacks?
The headache itself is moderate to severe and often throbbing and pulsating.
The duration of the attack from half a day to three days is typical for a migraine.

The
symptoms of migraines
include nausea and vomiting as well as high sensitivity to light, noise and smells, as the German Migraine and Headache Society (DMKG) explains.
Those affected often experience pain when they exert themselves.
The experts emphasize that the clinical picture of a migraine can be very different.
Therefore, if symptoms reappear, see a doctor so that he can make a diagnosis and rule out potentially dangerous headaches.
If painkillers no longer work or if new symptoms arise during the attacks, a visit to the doctor is also advisable.

When preventive therapy for migraines is needed
In certain cases, migraine sufferers should think about
not only doing something when attacks occur, but also treating the migraines preventively
, advises the DMKG: If the attacks occur more frequently, i.e. at least three to four times a month, if you are on ten days or more per month have to take painkillers or have professional and personal problems due to migraines.
In this case, therapies, for example a combination of relaxation techniques and endurance sports, could be combined with medication.
According to estimates by the specialist society, 10 to 15 percent of people in Germany are affected by migraines, women much more frequently than men
