After months of unemployment: Thousands of workers in the Israeli film industry will be able to return to work.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announced today (Tuesday) the transfer of a budget of NIS 16 million, with the assistance of the Lottery, for the purpose of returning the productions to action.

Since the spread of the corona in Israel, many film productions have been discontinued and over ten thousand workers in the industry have found themselves without a source of livelihood.

"We managed, even in this complex period, to transfer a budget as a unique support to the cinema in the days when it suffered a severe blow," Minister of Culture and Sports Hili Trooper announced today.

"The decision expresses the deep appreciation we have for Israeli cinema. The choice to support the productions of the damaged films is intended both to provide employment for thousands of Israelis and to enable the continued creation of Israeli cinema."

Mifal Hapayis CEO Bnei Dreyfus: "Mifal Hapayis is proud to take part in this important process, which means saving the film world from collapse and promoting Israeli cinema.

The blessed venture will provide jobs for more than 12,000 workers in this field and we are excited about its launch. "

The Israeli Film Forum said: "We thank the Minister of Culture for his mobilization and commitment. After six months of stagnation, the filmmakers will finally be able to return to the labor force and continue to produce Israeli films."
