An injured German mountaineer was rescued from the summit region of Mangart in the Alps during the night.
It was a "difficult and dangerous mission", said a spokeswoman for the mountain rescuers CNSAS of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northeastern Italy.
The mountain is located in the Julian Alps on the border between Italy and Slovenia.
The woman's emergency call was received shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday.
The 27-year-old was stuck on a ledge just below the 2680-meter-high summit due to bad weather with snowfall, according to a message from the Italian mountain rescuers on Facebook.
The rescue workers from Slovenia and Italy were able to locate the woman using a photo that she had previously posted on the Internet during her ascent.
According to the announcement, the 27-year-old was no longer able to walk alone when the rescuers arrived.
The helpers put her in a heated sleeping bag.
A total of 20 people helped bring the stretcher with the woman down the mountain.
The rescue lasted until early Tuesday morning.
The woman from Bavaria had come to a hospital in Tolmin in Slovenia, said the spokeswoman for Friuli Venezia Giulia.
She was hypothermic.
