Exotic food lovers are left in a bitter controversy over a new recipe that suggests roasting whole sunflower heads - and eating them like corn cobs.
The bizarre trend is shared on Facebook by the nuclear company Baker Creek Heirloom in Manfield, Missouri.
Thousands of people responded to the post and shared their thoughts on the unusual use of the popular flower.
While some adventurous cooks claimed they were interested in trying out the revolutionary use of the plant and its seeds - others were less convinced and even claimed it provoked a phobia in them.
To prepare the controversial dish, you need to pick the sunflower when the seeds are formed - but their skins are still soft.
Remove all the petals and tubular flowers that surround the scalp of the sunflower.
Coat it in a jar of sun-dried tomatoes and place it face down on the grill over medium heat.
Then cover it with a bowl and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
At the end of cooking, place it on a plate, spread over sun-dried tomatoes and basil - and you will have an appetite.
By the way, there is no need to use cutlery: just pick up the dish with your hands and eat it like a corn cob.

Hundreds of surfers who were surprised by the bold dish were persuaded to try it after watching a video demonstrating the preparation steps.
Maja Robertson wrote: "I love sunflower seeds but I never thought of eating them like that."
Marilyn Smith added: "I tried all kinds of exotic foods, but I never thought of eating sunflower like corn."
Susan Emilia remained curious: "I like sunflower seeds and basil and tomatoes so this is probably exactly what I need."
When asked if the top of the roasted sunflower has the same taste as the sunflower seeds we are used to, she replied: "They have a nutty taste, but they are still as soft as corn when they are not ripened."
One avid chef said the sunflower head cream sounds very tasty, but thinks it will be even tastier if garlic is spread on it instead of sun-dried tomatoes.

However, when the post partnered with the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen food group, many were not impressed with the dish.
One wrote in response: "I can not even look at it" and another added: "I would freak out if they served me such a dish. It's not for me."
Many joined the discussion, noting that the recipe provoked tripophobia in them - a phobia of unusual patterns of small holes or bumps.
More than 2,000 responses were recorded to the post and it received more than 10,000 shares.
