A new edit of The Godfather

, the latest film in the famous mafia trilogy directed by Francis Ford Coppola, will hit theaters in December, Paramount Studios announced Thursday.

This film, sequel to two of the greatest classics of Hollywood cinema, poorly received by critics when it was released before being partially disowned by Coppola himself, will benefit from a new edit more respectful
of the
director's
“original vision”.

"For this version, I created a new beginning and a new end, rearranged some scenes, some shots, and musical cues

Coppola said in a statement sent to AFP.
"These changes, in addition to the restored images and sound, offer a more relevant conclusion to The
Godfather
and The
Godfather 2," he added, swearing that these were his
"original intentions"
for the
Godfather 3
.
This new version of the film, often considered the ugly duckling of the trilogy, will hit theaters in December for its 30th anniversary, before being available on streaming platforms.

This latest opus follows a Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in his sixties, trying to get his family out of the mafia world.
In the cast appeared in particular Sofia Coppola in the guise of Mary Corleone, daughter of Michael, as well as Andy Garcia who plays Vincent, nephew of the Godfather and son of Sonny.
