In a scene that shows the inside of his mouth, a monkey from Malaysia is apparently trying to eat the stolen goods: the primate stole a student's cell phone and went on a photo safari in the forest with it.

There he took pictures of the fauna, his teeth and several selfies.

The photo tour already took place at the weekend, now the 20-year-old student, Zackrydz Rodzi, spoke to the British broadcaster BBC about the incident.

Rodzi, who comes from Johor in the south of the country, had missed his cell phone when he woke up and only found the smartphone cover under his bed.

At first, the young Malaysian had thought of a human thief, but there were no signs of burglary, he told the BBC.

Later he found the cell phone in the jungle behind his house.

Zackrydz started looking for his smartphone, called his number and found the device in an adjacent piece of rainforest under a palm tree, he said.

He eventually discovered several photos and videos of a monkey in the device's image gallery.

He published the partially blurred images on Twitter.

How the animal got into the house remained unclear.
