Instagram turns 10, the app that changed the way we communicate with photos.
In the initial logo it had a tribute to the vintage Polaroid shots and in a short time it became one of the most popular platforms due to the filters and the Stories, even among young people, now attracted to TikTok.
The app was created by fellow students Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and launched on October 6, 2010 as a simple iPhone application.
After a few weeks the download counter started to rise - now it has exceeded 1 billion active users per month - until in 2012 Facebook grabbed it for only 1 billion dollars, a paltry figure given the current value of 100 billion. dollars.
After the purchase by the company of Mark Zuckerberg, Instagram begins to expand and change its face.
Filters, functions, direct messages, verified profiles, videos, TV, eCommerce, commercials that favor the birth of so-called influencers are added, up to the novelty that makes the app take off among the youngest, namely, the Stories, borrowed from Snapchat.
If in the past it was this app that undermined Instagram, now it is TikTok, the Chinese app, which is winning the attention of the very young and also of the American President Donald Trump who wants to block it.
As proof that Instagram is observing this new reality well, there is the recent launch of a function, Reels, which allows short and funny videos that are precisely the main feature of the Chinese app.
