Élisabeth Borne: "If we have to correct certain inefficient devices and find new solutions for young people, we will"

INTERVIEW - The Minister of Labor, Employment and Integration since early July has been working with Jean-Michel Blanquer (National Education) and Frédérique Vidal (Higher Education) on the “1 young person, 1 solution” plan.

LE FIGARO.

- What first assessment do you draw, two and a half months after its presentation, of the “1 young person, 1 solution” plan, which claims to find a solution to the 750,000 young people entering the labor market this year?

Élisabeth BORNE.

- First of all, we can congratulate ourselves on having launched this plan very early so that it will be operational from the summer.

And it is, even if some measures are spread over two years and others related to training will start in early 2021. It can be said that this plan has already greatly cushioned the difficulties of entering the labor market for youth.

There were thus nearly 700,000 hirings of young people under 26 years old on CDI or CDD for more than three months in August and September while it was feared that their recruitments would collapse.

We are even, over these two months and without making up for the delay accumulated since the confinement in the spring, slightly above the levels of 2019. The learning results are also very good.
