Confinement: high schools remain open, “hybrid” education still possible

These establishments will remain open despite the containment measures but distance education can be used more.

Still open but… with fewer students.

This is, in essence, what awaits high schools for the next few weeks, announced Jean-Michel Blanquer this Thursday late afternoon.

The Minister of National Education was speaking at a press conference led by Prime Minister Jean Castex, 13 days after the start of the new national confinement.

Since August 30, schools have been able to remain open.

The government considered that the benefit / risk balance tended more in favor of maintaining the reception of students, on condition of respecting the health protocol provided by the National Education.

“At least 50%” of face-to-face in high school

However, since the start of the school year on Monday, November 2, many teachers have complained about working and sanitary conditions.

Images of college and high school students massed in courtyards or under courtyards also caused a lot of reaction.

Tuesday, several unions had declared a "day of health strike", Tuesday, November 10, "wherever sanitary conditions are not met".

Despite everything, Jean-Michel Blanquer said this Thursday that the device was not going to be changed.

In high school, it will remain slightly relaxed.

In these establishments, the physical presence of 100% of the pupils remains desirable but “hybrid solutions” can be found if the sanitary rules or if the epidemiological situation in the territory requires it.

The Minister of National Education nevertheless asked that each student provide "at least 50%" of his face-to-face lessons.

Last week, a first strengthening of the health protocol in force in high schools had already been announced.
