A hole in the ceiling of his four-room apartment in April of this year was the first sign for pop singer Frank Zander that it was going to be uncomfortable for him.
Zander has lived with his wife in an old apartment on the fourth floor for more than 50 years.
In the attic above the musician ("Here comes Kurt") had set up a studio and a studio for painting.
The artist apparently got along well with his long-time landlord.
Then the house was sold in mid-2019, the new owner is Michael Pribil, an entrepreneur from Munich who has been operating and renting real estate since 2001.
Pribil has plans for the corner house, the most important of which is to expand the attic and build new apartments there.
Preparations for the construction work began in spring, and Zander soon found the hole in his ceiling.
What followed is a bitter dispute in which both sides resorted to coarse means and the conflict continued to escalate.
Zander uses his popularity, uses the "Bild" newspaper and poses as a popular fighter against big capitalist rental sharks.
Pribil insists on the legal situation, appoints his lawyers and finally fires his tenant because he calls him an "asshole".
