Jason Momoa was 'totally in debt' after 'GOT'

The 'Aquaman' star recalled how much he struggled to pay his expenses after his character Khal Drogo died on 'Game of Thrones' in 2011.

'

Game of Thrones

' was one of the most successful television shows of the past decade.

At the 2019 Emmys, the HBO series garnered a total of 32 nominations thanks to its eighth and final season, and while thousands of dissatisfied 'GOT' fans demanded a remake of the final season, that year the production took home the award for Best Dramatic Series, plus 11 other awards.

However,

Jason Momoa

, who appeared only in the first two seasons of the

show

, did not benefit much from the initial boom of the series based on the George RR Martin books.

This week, the 41-year-old actor revealed that playing

Khal Drogo

did not guarantee him the fame or fortune that his co-stars later did.

And, for example, the careers of

Sophie Turner

,

Maisie Williams

,

Emilia Clarke

and

Kit Harington

were catapulted as a result of this successful show - although not everything was honey on flakes for them, because Harington was hospitalized for stress after the end from 'Game of Thrones', and Clarke revealed that she was pressured to do nudity on the show.

In an interview with 'InStyle' magazine, Momoa said the following: "I mean, we were starving after 'Game of Thrones'. I couldn't get a job. It's very difficult to have babies and be completely in debt."

Fans of 'Game of Thrones' will remember that the leader of the Dothraki was assassinated after marrying Daenerys (Clarke).

After giving life to that warrior, Momoa had trouble making the payments on his house in Topanga Canyon, near Los Angeles, where he lived with his wife Lisa Bonet and their two children, Lola, 13, and Nakoa- Wolf, 11.

His financial situation improved about five years later, once he was cast to play Aquaman in the DC Comics films.

The one born in Nanakuli, Hawaii, had that role in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016), 'Justice League' (2017) and 'Aquaman' (2018).

Although he no longer has the same financial difficulties, Momoa is still learning to be a good father.

In his recent interview, where he addresses the topic of masculinity, he said that, as he grew up without a father at home, "I didn't know what it takes to be a father."

The actor added, "And I don't want to just tell my son, 'because I said so.' I really want to connect, and I want him to be vulnerable and open."

Past experiences have not been in vain for Jason, who explained that after having dealt with so many difficulties in Hollywood, he does not take for granted the success that he now has.

"I feel like I'm still a kid, freaking out."

The next time we see Momoa in the cinema will be in October 2021, when 'Dune' is released, a film in which she participates alongside Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, who this 2020 made history by winning the Emmy award for Best Actress in a Drama series for her role in 'Euphoria'.

Last October, the actor showed the world 'The Frozen Few', a project he filmed in collaboration with Harley Davidson and in which he is seen traveling through snowy territories on a motorcycle.
