Because of a fire in a substation in Frankfurt am Main, more than 100,000 people in several parts of the city were without electricity.
The fire brigade said nine people were slightly injured by the fire.
There was accordingly a property damage of around 150,000 euros.
Among other things, the power supply in the Hoechst clinic failed for a short time, reported the affected energy supplier Süwag on Twitter.
The hospital and other areas could be supplied with electricity again at noon.
According to Süwag, there was a technical malfunction in the substation during "a switching operation" that triggered the fire.
The fire brigade had put out the fire around noon.
Fire stations occupied for emergencies
Because it is unclear how long the power failure will last, the volunteer fire brigade has also occupied the fire stations in the affected districts.
"If the telephone breaks down, emergencies can be reported by those seeking help," said the emergency services.
Süwag expects to have the power supply restored in the afternoon.
As far as we know, the districts of Höchst, Nied, Griesheim, Unterliederbach, Sossenheim, Zeilsheim and Sindlingen were affected by the power failure.
