A suspected "Hollywood con artist" has been arrested in the UK.

The 41-year-old is said to have imitated film studio bosses and thus stole large sums of money from aspiring actors.

A spokesman for the FBI in San Diego told the dpa news agency that the 41-year-old Indonesian was arrested at the request of the United States, which had submitted an extradition request.

The man is charged with conspiracy, fraud and identity theft, among other things.

Alleged film projects as a lure

He is said to have passed himself off as Kathleen Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm, and Amy Pascal, former Sony film boss.

The man is said to have copied the voices of these women for years and thus lured would-be actors to alleged film projects in Indonesia.

There he is said to have taken large sums of money from them.

According to media reports, a US publisher has already secured the book rights to the story.
