(ANSA) - LONDON, DECEMBER 10 - The British government still hopes for a free trade agreement with the EU on post-Brexit, but only if it is compatible with the newfound "sovereignty" of the Kingdom. Minister Penny Mordaunt, Paymaster General of Boris Johnson's Tory team, said this in the House of Commons, responding curtly to questions from the Labor opposition on the outcome of the Brussels meeting between Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen. "We cannot accept a compromise on the control of our currency, our laws, our borders and our fish", he reiterated: "The only possible agreement is one that respects our sovereignty". (HANDLE).
