"Lebanon - The Borders of Blood", here 11, 21:15

Coincidentally or intentionally, in the same week that the masterpiece series "Lock Hour" ended here, another series is coming up, this time on Lebanon.

In this case it is a docu-series that brings the chain of events in the Middle East, with an emphasis on Lebanon as the country that has suffered the greatest upheavals, and has been a scene of wrestling between different forces in recent decades.

The docu tries to bring a complete picture of what happened in Lebanon from different points of view: of the Israelis, of the Palestinians, of the Lebanese, of the Americans and more.

This docu is interviewing different and diverse personalities who present their side of the story, into a mosaic that should give viewers a more comprehensive perspective.

In the opening of the first chapter, the creators describe their intention to give additional dimensions to the familiar Israeli angle.

This chapter reviews the Turkish occupation zones and advanced quickly toward the Palestinian issue in Lebanon, after the expulsion of Fatah from Jordan and they are based in refugee camps in southern Lebanon. The film is full testimonies and archival footage depicting the divisions between Christians Hfnim-lbnoniot Palestinians who settled in the south of the country.

At the height of the Lebanese civil war , The Syrians bring in forces and support the PLO.

Christians without ammunition or experience are pushed into a corner when no country is helping them - except Israel.

Even among Christians there are camps with rival families, Mafia-style assassinations and as they well described in the series, Lebanon has for years been an example of anarchy.

In the Middle East, lack of response is interpreted as weakness, and whenever a particular faction has been attacked - it has found the time and place for a counterattack.

The cruel evidence of the Lebanese is evident: they murdered women and children in cold blood just because they belonged to the opponent's side.

There are no rules.

"Lebanon - the borders of blood" tells the history of the place that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people in recent decades, but unfortunately it does not renew anything and does not bring angles we have not yet known.

The historical events mentioned are still quite recent, and most of us have seen them in real time, not to mention that in recent years films have been made about Lebanon, including here in the past year, that have touched on similar points.

"Lebanon" is a reminder that we are still in the old Middle East.
