The industry is horrified.

  • The

    sale

    of

    fireworks

    and

    firecrackers

    is

    prohibited

    throughout

    Germany

    .

    decided.

  • Bavaria's Prime Minister

    Markus Söder is

    calling for a “quiet

    New Year's Eve

    ”.

Kassel - On Sunday (December 13th, 2020) Chancellor Angela Merkel and the heads of state of the states

decided on

another hard

lockdown

at a federal-state summit

.

In addition to the closure of the non-essential retail trade, schools and daycare centers, the rules for

Christmas

and

New Year's Eve have also been

tightened.

Among other things, there is a nationwide

ban

on the

sale

of

pyrotechnics

- i.e.

fireworks

and

firecrackers

.

Bavaria's

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU)

emphasized after the conference that

a “quiet New Year's Eve” was appropriate

this year in view of the

corona pandemic

.

De facto, the decision is

tantamount

to

a

firework ban

- because not only the sale of

fireworks

was banned nationwide - municipalities can

pronounce

a

fireworks ban

for particularly busy places

New Year's Eve without fireworks: No further burden on hospitals in the Corona crisis

The ban is the fact that the established

New Year

fireworks

and serious injury exists and the hospitals that currently with the numerous

Covid-19 patients

to relieve are on the verge of overload.

Because of the Corona sales ban for fireworks on New Year's Eve: industry shocked

The decision for the manufacturers of

fireworks

and

rockets

is bitter

, said Thomas Schreiber, Chairman of the Board of the Association of the Pyrotechnic Industry (VPI), on Sunday after

the German Press Agency (dpa)

decided on the

ban

on the

sale of fireworks

.

The industry generates around 95 percent of annual sales on

New Year's Eve

.

His association therefore demand full compensation for the loss in sales in the three-digit million range, emphasized Schreiber.

Otherwise the entire industry would be

threatened with

bankruptcy

.

"We need separate aid funds to secure the 3,000 individual livelihoods in the industry," explained Schreiber.

Because of Corona: the ban on selling New Year's Eve fireworks shocked the manufacturers

The decision surprised the association, as the federal and state governments initially said there would be no ban on the sale of

fireworks

.

The manufacturers have therefore started delivery.

According to Schreiber, the problem is that the business with the

fireworks runs

on a commission basis and the manufacturers are now left with the costs.

According to the association, around 130 million euros in sales were achieved last year - part of it had already

broken away

this year due to the cancellation of major events due to the

corona pandemic

.
