Covid-19 in France: 18,264 new cases detected, Salomon evokes a "increasing trend"

During his press briefing, the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon said that the health authorities have detected 18,264 new infections with the new coronavirus, against 17,615 on Wednesday and 11,532 on Tuesday.

"A tendency to increase after a plateau", he declared while insisting on the simultaneous rise in power of screening.

"We are entering a high-risk season," he also warned, referring to the arrival of winter temperatures and the end of the year celebrations.

2808 patients in intensive care

The sharp decline in intensive care admissions is also running out of steam.

Since the start of the epidemic, 59,619 deaths have been recorded in France, including 41,200 in hospitals.
