"Chloro King": Professor Raoult, comic book hero!

2020-12-18T15:56:05.263Z

“Star” of the health crisis, the Marseille professor is now also a comic book hero in “Chloro King”. A resolutely humorous album

In "tracksuit" in the colors of OM, Notre-Dame de la Garde in the background, a professor Raoult looking like a dealer calls out a sweaty Macron: "Are you looking for chloro, brother?

".

The image, taken from the comic "Chloro King" sums up the tone and the comic of Dadou, released a few days ago.

Based on the news, and taking up the chronology of the health crisis, with the Marseille doctor as a superstar, it has no other ambition than to make people laugh or smile.

This thumbnail is also the very origin of the album.

“It is a press cartoon at the start that I made on April 9, the day of Macron's visit.

I found it funny to imagine Raoult as a drug dealer.

I posted it on my site and got lots of feedback.

I got caught up in the game and decided to make a comic book, ”says Dadou, 39, who regularly collaborates with Midi Libre and Eurosport.

Caricaturist, designer, screenwriter, this is not his first attempt at comics.

Between 2011 and 2018, he published five volumes on another divisive character, as loved as hated, Louis Nicollin, the “big mouth” president of the Montpellier football club, the author's hometown.

From March, “Chloro King” tells about the pandemic through the adventures of a totally crazy Raoult, struggling with “La Buzyn” but who promises the virus to “screw his race”.

She stops in June, with a teacher watching a sunset over the ledge.

“I got to work in April.

I worked three weeks on writing and took six months to draw.

When I started, I didn't know that we were going to experience a reconfinement… The comics were also ready to be released on the day of the announcement of the bookstores closing.

It was all the more complicated since I created my own publishing house to release it, ”explains Dadou.

An ideal character for a comic book

What pleased the designer at the Marseille doctor, to the point of wanting to make him a hero?

“His look first.

It is pleasant to draw.

His way of speaking too, his provocative side.

He is an ideal character for a comic book.

But the idea is also to talk about everything that happened, to make fun of everyone a little, including us.

I believe that it may appeal to pro-Raoults, as well as to anti-Raoults.

It's really for fun.

We didn't really have the opportunity this year… ”, assumes the designer.

The infectious disease specialist did not learn until late that he had started blowing bubbles.

“I went to the IHU in Marseille last week to present and sign the comics to him.

That's how I learned that his team followed me on the Internet since the first drawing, laughs Dadou.

It made them laugh a lot.

I think the teacher liked it too.

But you know, he's quite reserved in the end, he doesn't talk much.

On the other hand, he came near me during the signatures and he made me a dedication of my book:

Thank you for this wonderful idea

.

He even caricatured me.

And frankly, he's pretty good ”.

A talent that we did not yet know at the "King of Chloro".
