The holidays are coming, and with them, concerns about the evolution of the epidemic.
While questions hover over the risks of recovery at Christmas, France recorded, this Friday, 264 new deaths linked to Covid-19 in hospitals and 15,674 new contaminations.
In terms of hospitals, France now has 41,455 deaths, and 60,229 deaths in total, including deaths occurring in medico-social establishments.
Continued decline in intensive care
2,764 patients are currently hospitalized in intensive care (against 2,808 this Thursday) out of a total of 24,945 patients treated in hospital as a result of infection with the new coronavirus.
On the testing side, the positivity rate rose to 5.9% this Friday, according to Public Health France.
The rate of contamination seems to be decreasing but remains in a high range far removed from the expectations of deconfinement (to 5,000 cases), with 15,674 infections counted this Friday, against 18,264 this Thursday.
This Thursday, the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon, stressed that we were entering "a high-risk season", signaling that the figures for the epidemic showed "an increasing trend after a plateau".
