Gases that have risen from a pool could be responsible for poisoning a couple in the Enzkreis in Baden-Württemberg.
Walkers discovered the couple on Saturday in a forest near Ölbronn-Dürrn in the Enzkreis, said a police spokesman.
The 55-year-old man died, his 52-year-old wife is in acute danger of death in the hospital.
Apparently there was an accident.
The man probably died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, said the police spokesman.
There are no indications of a crime or suicide.

According to police, the two were discovered near a pool.
According to the “Badische Neuesten Nachrichten”, experts are using soil samples to investigate whether toxic gases have formed there.
The man and the woman probably wanted to get firewood from the forest.
Her car was discovered nearby, and officials found wood and a saw in it.
