Ursula von der Leyen receives the Key to Europe Award

The official award ceremony will take place during the days of the Ventotene Europa Festival 7, 8 and 9 May (ANSA)


Having concretely contributed to the spread of solidarity values ​​in the European Union with the launch of the Next Generation Eu to overcome the pandemic crisis throughout the continent.

With these reasons, the association La Nuova Europa, in agreement with the Municipality of Ventotene, awarded the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen the Key of Europe Award.

The official award ceremony will take place during the days of the Ventotene Europa Festival (7, 8 and 9 May 2021) organized in Ventotene, the island of the Federalist Manifesto, by the New Europe.

President von der Leyen accepted the Prize with great pleasure, the ideal symbol of a Europe that does not yield to the difficulties of the pandemic.

The recognition, which is part of the other initiatives of the New Europe, including its School of Europe which it founded in Ventotene, is awarded every year to personalities who have made a particular effort to spread European solidarity values.

The Key of Europe Award, in collaboration with the Municipality of Ventotene, was previously awarded to Emmanuel Macron (2018) and David Sassoli (2019) and in its first edition to Roberto Sommella, president of New Europe (2017) at the deed of conferral of the honorary citizenship of Ventotene.
