(by Francesco Gallo) (ANSA) - ROME, DEC 27 - Meanwhile, the analogy with the present, in THE STAND, which bothers and fascinates at the same time.

   The protagonist of the TV series from 3 January on StarzPlay is a Super Covid, or a virus, a bacteriological weapon that escaped government control, known by the formal name of Project Azzurro (and in jargon as Captain Trips) mutation of the causative agent of influenza, characterized by a infectivity rate of 99.4% and a mortality rate for infected of 100%.

   Add to all this a stellar cast, Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgård, James Marsden, Odessa Young and Amber Heard and a novel by Stephen King, SHADOW OF THE SCORPION to which the film is inspired, to find ourselves in front of a whole series to see.

   Now the fate of humanity is all now on the fragile shoulders of 108-year-old mother Abagail (Goldberg) and a surviving fist.

Their main enemy is a man with a deadly smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man (Skarsgård).

In short, two groups of survivors led by dueleaders animated by mysticism: on the one hand, Abagail Freemantl who tries to reconstruct a semblance of a democratic society in the town of Boulder, Colorado;

on the other RandallFlagg, the Walking Man, a sort of Devil himself trying to do the same thing in Las Vegas.

A character, the latter, who will become the most recurring villain of King's production as in the case of THE BLACK TOWER.
