Covid: with 49,000 fewer tests, 377 deaths drop

There are 12,415 tests (molecular and antigenic) positive for coronavirus recorded in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health. There are 377 victims. Yesterday there were 16,310 positives and 475 dead. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 17 - There are 12,415 coronavirus positive (molecular and antigenic) tests recorded in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Levitimates are 377. Yesterday the positives were 16,310 and the dead475.


    About 49,000 fewer tests were carried out than yesterday - a drastic drop that is usual over the weekend -, today 211,778 are in fact.

The positivity rate is 5.9%, compared to 6.3% yesterday (-0.4%).


    Intensive care patients are down by 17, in the daily balance between admissions and exits.

There are 124 daily admissions. In total, 2,503 people are hospitalized in intensive care.

Patients in the medical area - ordinary wards - are down by 27 units compared to yesterday, bringing the total to 22,757.


    In total, 2,381,277 cases since the beginning of the epidemic in Italy, 82,177 victims.

Currently positive are 553,374 (-4,343 compared to yesterday), the recovered and discharged 1,745,726 (+16,510), in home isolation there are 528,114 people (-4,299).


    The regions with the highest number of positive daily tests, according to data from the Ministry of Health, are: Lombardy 1,603, Sicily 1,439, Emilia Romagna 1,437, Veneto1,369, Lazio 1,243, Puglia 908, Campania 891. (ANSA).
