Following the state of emergency and the increase in the incidence of the virus, today (Sunday) the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levy, contacted the directors of the general hospitals and instructed them to add beds for Corona patients.

According to a table attached by the CEO to the letter, this is a target of 3,200 beds, when today it is 2,000. In total, this is a quarter of all hospital beds in Israel that will be allocated to Corona. Prof. Levy also emphasized that "But it must be prepared accordingly."

"We are in the midst of a third wave witnessing an increasing rate of patients in need of hospitalization, with a higher and critical number of patients higher than the previous waves. In the next two weeks, there is still no expectation of a decrease in these patients." .   

The director general of the Ministry of Health added that if the extra beds do not meet the demand, it will be necessary to open beds to hospitalize Corona patients at the expense of existing beds. Also a discount on reducing loads from the staff treating Corona Canceling non-urgent activity.

These guidelines come against the background of the disaster in Ichilov yesterday.

According to the initial investigation, as a result of the workload, the medical staff members did not notice that the respiratory tube was torn, leading to the tragic death of the corona patient.
