(ANSA) - LONDON, JANUARY 29 - Furia in Belfast and London over the decision of the EU to impose controls on the anti Covid vaccines produced in the continent and sent to Northern Ireland.
The initiative goes against the post Brexit agreements on the special status of Ulster to protect the open border with Dublin; but Brussels justified it as a "safeguard measure" in the face of suspicion that the vaccines could then be transferred from Northern Ireland to the rest of the Kingdom. Belfast's first local minister, Arlene Foster, called the move "incredibly aggressive and hostile". Minister Michael Goveha called for possible retaliation from Boris Johnson's government.
