He could not expect big booty here: In Dortmund, a 17-year-old was locked for several hours in the vault of an empty bank.
Several attempts to open the vault door with an access code and free the young man in this way failed during the night from Saturday to Sunday, said the Dortmund fire department.
The liberation was only successful with the support of the technical relief organization, a specialist company and heavy equipment.
The 60 centimeter thick protective wall made the rescue more difficult
According to the fire department, witnesses reported a person trapped in the bank late Saturday night.
The emergency services were then able to contact the 17-year-old who was behind the locked vault door in the approximately 20-square-meter vault.
The 17-year-old's family was also there.
The young man was only released after the safe wall was drilled open bit by bit with a drill and hammer drill - the work was made much more difficult by the thickness of about 60 centimeters.
Finally, with the additional use of a chain hoist and spreader, it was possible to free the uninjured youth, according to the fire brigade.
A fire department spokesman couldn't say how the young man got into the safe in the first place.
A total of 30 helpers took part in the rescue operation.
