A serious bloody act rocked the residents of the Croatian Adriatic city of Sibenik at the weekend.
After his company went bankrupt, the owner of a bakery chain is said to have shot four people and himself on Saturday.
The 57-year-old killed the insolvency administrator responsible for him, her husband and two other entrepreneurs, as the police in Sibenik announced.
The 57-year-old was considered a successful businessman who had built up the bakery chain.
He was popular because he repeatedly sponsored cultural and sporting events, as local media reported on Sunday.
With the assault rifle to the last discussion
The last negotiation on the bankruptcy of the bakery chain took place on Wednesday.
A court in Zadar decided how to deal with the bankruptcy estate.
The 57-year-old apparently did not accept the regulation.
According to the investigation, he is said to have persuaded the insolvency administrator and an entrepreneur involved to have a final discussion in Sibenik.
He is said to have shot her with a rapid fire rifle at the agreed location.
Among the victims was the insolvency administrator's husband, who drove them to the meeting.
The second entrepreneur was a former business partner whom the 57-year-old blamed for the debt of his chain.
According to the investigation, he shot him in the neighboring village of Vodice before killing himself.
