A family was attacked at their home early this morning in Muskogee City, Oklahoma.
Five children and a man died, a woman is in mortal danger.
According to the police, an emergency call was received about 1:30 a.m. about several shots.
On the scene, the police met a man with a gun.
According to media reports, one of the police officers shot the man, but missed him.
After a brief chase, the suspect was arrested.
In the house, the emergency services found a dead man and four lifeless children.
Another child and a woman were flown to a hospital.
The child died a little later from his injuries.
The woman is still in mortal danger, as a police spokeswoman said.
According to the police, the children were all small, exact ages were not given.
The police spokeswoman told the TV station CBS 6 that the victims were a family.
However, it was not explained whether the adults were the parents of the children.
The arrested man is now being investigated.
The police have not yet commented on a possible motive: "We do not believe that it was arbitrary, but we do not yet know the details," said the spokeswoman.
