The Thai island of Phuket, considered one of the largest and most popular tourist destinations in Thailand among tourists, boasts picturesque beaches, bustling nightlife and luxurious resorts.
These days it has been reported that the authorities on the island may make it easier for tourists who have already received the corona vaccine.
The Insider website reports that Phuket intends to purchase a large number of vaccine doses, with the aim of vaccinating about 70 percent of its 400,000 residents, by the beginning of September 2021. The goal is to achieve herd immunity of the local population, with the purchase of vaccines funded by the Chamber of Commerce. Phuket, the island's tourism association and a number of business groups.
"We can not wait any longer. If we wait, we will not survive," he told reporters at Homikiti Rocktangam, president of the Phuket Tourism Association.
"If we miss the peak of the upcoming tourist season, we will have to wait another year."

Revenue from tourism fell from $ 64 billion to $ 28 billion in 2020
The plan, dubbed "October 1st in Phuket", is still required with the approval of the Thai government.
If approved, vaccine doses made in China will be purchased.
These, according to reports, provide 50.4 percent efficacy against the virus.
It was also reported that Thailand has announced that it will begin the national vaccination program on February 14, with the British vaccine Astraznica, which is 82 percent effective.
However, health officials in the country believe that Thailand will reach herd immunity only during 2022.
Like many countries in the world whose economy is largely based on tourism, Thailand has also suffered significant damage due to the outbreak of the corona virus.
In 2019, close to 40 million tourists visited the country, bringing more than $ 64 billion into the state coffers, which is 11 percent of GDP. In contrast, in 2020, the state's revenue from tourism fell to less than $ 28 billion. .
The Thai government's approval is still required, but it's on its way.

The tourists were deterred by the restrictions - and did not arrive
The state borders were closed to tourists from March to October 2020, when in October the state was reopened to tourists on a limited basis and subject to designated tourist visas.
However, many tourists have shyed away from the 14-day isolation restrictions upon arrival in the country, which also necessitates considerable financial outlay.
The reason: the insulation is at the expense of the tourists, and its price starts at about $ 1,240 and reaches up to $ 10,000.
Jeseda Sribitchian, CFO of the Clover Hotel in Phuket, says she has never seen Phuket so quiet in 20 years.
"We need visitors from around the world. We do not think at all about making a profit but mainly about minimizing the damage. As long as the closure restrictions exist - tourists will not come here."
As mentioned, if the plan is approved, tourists will be able to visit Phuket without the need for isolation and without restrictions, within just a few months.
The National Tourism Authority of Thailand did not provide a response to the news.
