She made history by reciting a poem at President Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony with the eyes of the whole world on her.

At just 22,

Amanda Gorman

was the youngest poet to ever act in a presidential inauguration ceremony, as well as boasting the title of National Youth Poet Laureate, a sort of Nobel Prize for young American writers.

Yet she is terrified of the public.

She revealed it herself during a conversation with Michelle Obama for Time.

The former First Lady took on the reporter's shoes and interviewed Gorman for the issue in which she herself is on the cover.

Amanda Gorman has a mantra for overcoming fear.

Each time she repeats to herself the verses contained in the track 'I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)' of the soundtrack written by Lin Miranda of the Disney film 'Moana' (2016).

The poet also revealed that her fear of the public stems from being African American and not feeling accepted.

On January 20, she was also terrified by the fear of stumbling before reaching the podium or of not being able to turn the pages of her poem because her hands were frozen from the cold.
