A snow-ice orange vigilance is launched for Sunday for the departments of Nord (59) and Pas-de-Calais (62).
Orange flood vigilance is also maintained in nine departments.
The snow, which arrived overnight in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, will continue to fall in the morning thanks to a rapid drop in temperatures.
At the end of the episode, 2 to 5 cm of snow are expected.
On Artois and the Nord-Pas-de-Calais coast, the accumulation of snow on the ground may even locally reach 5 to 10 cm.
Snowfall is expected to start to ease Sunday afternoon.

In Normandy, the accumulation will range from 1 to locally 3 cm, on the Normandy hills.
The northeast wind will be sensitive, quite strong on the coast, reinforcing the cold.
Snowfall will ease in the afternoon.
In the Paris region, the few scattered snowfalls of the night will still be possible during the day, with at most 1 cm or even 2 in Seine-et-Marne.
In Brittany, the showers, frequent in the morning, will gradually diminish.
Nine other departments also remain on orange alert for flood risks.
Heavy rainfall in recent days has caused the water to rise, amplifying the risk of overflowing.
These are Aisne, Somme, Oise, Seine-et-Marne, Maine-et-Loire, SaĂ´ne-et-Loire, Charente, Charente-Maritime as well as Landes.
