The session of discussions held today at Damascus University, chaired by Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, President of the University and Dr. Muhammad Reza Hajjian, Director of the Project for Documenting and Deepening Popular Relations between Syria and Iran, focused on the scientific cooperation relations between Damascus University and Iranian universities in the field of political and economic sciences, administration and law.
The discussions of the attendees dealt with student exchange mechanisms, joint scientific research, professors in colleges, similar specializations on both sides, scientific agreements signed between the two sides and the need to follow up their implementation on the ground while studying the possibility of expanding them to include other areas, discussing ways of cooperation and joint supervision of master’s and doctoral theses, and participating in cultural dialogue activities and seminars. Dr. Abdin affirmed the university’s readiness to network with the Iranian side in the fields of law, political, administrative and economic sciences, given the importance of these specializations in the progress and development of institutions in any country.
In turn, Dr. Hajian expressed the Iranian side's desire to expand cooperation frameworks with the University of Damascus and support it in the field of providing university scholarships for postgraduate students and contributing to the rehabilitation of teaching assistants in the specializations and fields desired by the University of Damascus in accordance with the established rules.
The session was attended by professors and researchers from the faculties of law, political and economic sciences in a number of Iranian universities, the University of Damascus, and the university's vice presidents for scientific affairs, scientific research and postgraduate studies.
