The Italian Medicines Agency Aifa has decided today, as a precaution, to issue a ban on the use of batch ABV2856 of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Doses of this batch have been distributed throughout Italy.

There are about 500 thousand doses contained in each batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

From the conversation - sources from Palazzo Chigi report - it emerged that there is no evidence of a link between the cases of thrombosis recorded in Europe and the administration of the Astrazeneca vaccine.
In the phone call with Draghi, President von der Leyen "announced that the EMA has initiated a further accelerated review" on the vaccines of Astrazeneca.
Aifa "is carrying out all the necessary checks, acquiring clinical documentation in close collaboration with the NAS and the competent authorities. The samples of this lot will be analyzed by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità".
Aifa will promptly communicate "any new information should become available".
Aifa reserves the right to take further measures, where necessary, also in close coordination with the EMA, the European pharmaceutical agency.
