"It is 8am, the first customers are arriving," warns the warehouse manager to his employees.
With the health crisis, their usual customers, restaurants and bars in Ile-de-France are absent subscribers.
So, OBD Grand Paris, supplier of drinks, sells its stocks.
The company opened the doors of its warehouse to the general public in Morangis in Essonne at 8 am sharp.
14 minutes later, the first palette of rosé wine was gone, "we are pleasantly surprised at the proportion it takes", rejoices Dani, an employee, in the process of taking down the product label.
“Our company has been at a complete standstill for 6 months so we end up with an extremely large stock of products on our hands,” explains Pascal Clément, general manager of OBD Grand Paris.
Instead of throwing away its perishables, the company decided to share it with everyone at a good price.
"We will try to do good business," says Franck, who came early.
At the bottom, you can find a bottle of soft at 60 cents.
A very nice bottle of spirits is sold for around 150 euros.
Even if for some, like Ludovic, some products remain “a bit expensive”.
On the stalls, individuals can thus buy products normally intended for the catering industry.
Products that are not necessarily found in supermarkets, such as vodka jeroboams, often placed on tables in nightclubs, table wines reserved for restaurants or soft drinks stored in glass bottles.
Some take the opportunity to stock up on rosé “for this summer”, others to buy something to sip a drink during a game of pétanque.
Pallets are emptied and sold quickly.
The operation is scheduled to last until Saturday 5 p.m.
