"Football participates moved in the memory of the victims of Covid-19 as it has done throughout this year, showing closeness to those who have suffered and supporting those who, like the operators of essential services, have kept the whole country together, feeding every day the hope of being able to overcome this terrible period ".

This is what the president of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina writes in a note on the National Day in memory of the victims of Covid which is celebrated every 18 March, in memory of the day of 2020 in which the highest number of deaths due to the pandemic was recorded .

"We have not yet emerged from the emergency - Gravina argues - and yet we are finally beginning to glimpse a light at the end of the tunnel. The world of football has mobilized since the beginning of the pandemic to support the country's commitment: economic interventions, as well as awareness campaigns or moments of commemoration of the victims and thanks to the staff who on several fronts worked to fight Covid-19: Federation, Leagues, Clubs, footballers, coaches and referees took to the field to help the reference territories by wearing a single game uniform, without any distinction ".
