(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 18 - With 202 votes in favor, 141 against and 2 abstentions, the Spanish Chamber of Deputies today approved the law on euthanasia, which will come into force within three months, making Spain the seventh country to recognize this right.
The news agency Efe reports.
The help to die will become part of the services of the national health service and will be able to benefit people of age who suffer from "serious and incurable diseases" or "serious, chronic, and disabling diseases" that prevent self-sufficiency and that generate "physical and constant and intolerable psychic ".
Euthanasia was already legal in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, New Zealand and Colombia.
