When searching for a 25-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter who had been missing for weeks, police in Scotland discovered two bodies.
They were found in the house of a man in the city of Dundee who is said to have killed the two, the police said.
The 50-year-old is charged with murder.
How he was related to the woman who lived in Bristol, 560 kilometers away, is not yet known.
The mother and her two children were last seen in mid-February and reported missing on March 1.
The second child, a seven-year-old girl, was found unharmed.
A debate about violence against women is currently raging in the UK.
The trigger is the case of Sarah E. The 33-year-old was allegedly abducted from the street and killed by a police officer in south London on March 3.
As a result, there was sharp criticism in social networks for the lack of security of women.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government announced that it would invest more money in surveillance cameras and better street lighting, as well as deploying plainclothes police officers in bars and nightclubs.
