(ANSA) - RIO DE JANEIRO, MARCH 23 - Rede Globo, Brazil's main television channel, has announced the suspension of the recording of its famous soap operas following the worsening of the coronavirus pandemic.
"Due to the worsening of the crisis linked to the pandemic and the restrictive measures established by the authorities, starting today, 23 March, the dramaturgical works will be interrupted", reads a statement from the broadcaster.
The Projac studios, a complex of about 400,000 square meters where the majority of TV Globo's telenovelas are recorded, are located in Rio de Janeiro, where a new lockdown has been decreed from March 26 to April 4.
"Series and telenovelas will be recorded again from 4 April", concludes the note by Rede Globo, one of the most important publishing groups in Latin America, whose 'novelas' are the most followed in Brazil and are exported to various foreign countries.
