The Germans' favorite is natural gas - but heating oil is also well received.

Despite the ban and CO2 tax, many do not want to forego heating with oil.

The CO2 tax was introduced in Germany at the beginning of 2021.

The reason: The containment of climate-damaging exhaust gases in accordance with the German and European climate targets.

A study within the framework of the UN environmental program has shown that 38 percent of all CO2 emissions are generated in the construction and building sectors *.

The savings potential in this area is great, but it must also be accepted by the people.

Aroundhome, a provider of home-related services, has now carried out a data collection that precisely depicts the mood and differences in Germany on the subject of heating with renewable energies.

To this end, more than 100,000 qualified inquiries from 2019 and 2020 were evaluated.

Overview of heating data for Germany

  • Germans currently rely on heating oil in 40 percent of households and 13 percent of households also plan to do so when purchasing a new one.

  • In a nationwide comparison, Bavaria and Hesse, with around 20 percent, are increasingly relying on heating oil.

  • Renewable energies in Bavaria and Hesse above the national average.

Wood and pellets in particular are 8 percent above average in Bavaria.

But are the

acquisition costs seen as the biggest hurdle

?

Why renewable energies are so unpopular in the heating segment can only be speculated, but the acquisition costs could play a decisive role here, so the purchase price for a heat pump in a single-family household can range from 12,000 euros to 18,000 euros for a two-family household 25,000 euros climb.

Oil or gas heating, on the other hand, costs an average of just 7,000 to 9,000 euros.
