Another two million doses of Covid vaccines should arrive in Italy next week and the government is ready to field a weekly assessment of the progress of the administration campaign in the regions, to intervene in the event of a gap between the different territories and if the priorities indicated in the national plan were not respected.

"The vaccination campaign continues giving priority to the most vulnerable people", reiterates Palazzo Chigi.

Once the distribution throughout Italy of the million doses of Pfizer's drug arrived on Monday, the technicians are therefore already working on deliveries next week when, according to the forecasts communicated to the regions, the quantity of available vaccines should be higher than that of the last seven days.

Italy will most likely be able to count on another million doses of Pfizer, about 500 thousand of Moderna and between 300 thousand and 500 thousand of Astrazeneca, which would bring the total for the first quarter to about 13 million.

Umbria, for example, has made it known that from the 19,500 doses delivered this week it will go to over 45 thousand, therefore more than double.

However, the unknown factor remains Astrazeneca: to date there are still 2.8 million doses missing compared to the 5.3 announced and it is likely that the Anglo-Swedish company will not keep its commitments.

"We will have a problem with the quantities of the Astrazeneca vaccine for the whole month of April", confirms the councilor for health of the Lazio Region Alessio D'Amato.

If the deliveries for the next few days are respected, there will still be an acceleration in the administration.

And it is for this reason that the government will monitor the trend in the individual territories, on the basis of the priorities indicated in the vaccination plan and therefore taking into account both how many administrations are made compared to the doses received, with the indication to maintain a 15% supply for the second inoculation, both of the percentage of administration to each of the priority categories: over 80, frail, disabled (Minister Erika Stefani asked INPS to send the updated lists to the Emergency Commissioner as soon as possible) caregivers, school staff and police forces.

According to official data, to date, the regions have administered 8,112,882 doses, which correspond to 81.9% of the total received (9,911,100).

But nine - Basilicata, Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardy, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto - are below average, with three just over 70%: Sardinia at 70.2%, Liguria at 70.8% and Calabria at 71.3%.

Monitoring will also cover the individual priority categories: Tuscany, for example, administered 81.1% of the doses received, but only 28% of those over 80 immunized at least with the first dose.
