It didn't go well for the British royal family in the end.

There was anger about connections between Prince Andrews and the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, after all Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan broke with the monarchy for good and raised serious allegations of racism.

In view of this situation in Buckingham Palace one should be grateful for every bit of normalcy.

The best example of this: Princess Eugenie.

The Queen's granddaughter celebrates her 30th birthday - and the palace happily congratulates.

"We wish Princess Eugenie a happy birthday today," it says on Twitter to a picture of the smiling jubilee.

The tweet was garnished with a cake and a balloon emoji.

Eugenie is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth II's third child, and divorced wife Sarah Ferguson.

She became a mother for the first time a few weeks ago - son August is the Queen's ninth great-grandson.

Most recently, Princess Eugenie proudly presented her baby, who was only a few weeks old, on a sunny meadow with flowers, the blanket aesthetically crumpled, and cute rabbits on her little feet.

"I'm so happy to be August's mom and I'm enjoying my first Mother's Day," she wrote on Instagram on the day that was celebrated in Great Britain on March 14th.

Within a short time it collected around 300,000 likes: old values in a new guise.

Prince Charles commemorates the corona dead

Despite Eugenie's birthday, the tone in the palace was rather muted this week.

On behalf of the royal family, heir to the throne, Prince Charles, commemorated the more than 125,000 corona deaths in the United Kingdom, exactly one year to the day after the announcement of the first lockdown with extensive exit and contact restrictions.

"We are all inspired by the ingenuity we have experienced, grateful for the dedication so many have shown, and indescribably moved by the sacrifices we have seen," said Charles in a video message.

The eldest son of the royal couple is the patron of the hospice organization Marie Curie, which has called for a minute of silence for the victims of the pandemic.

"Whatever our beliefs or philosophy, let's take a moment," said Charles.

It is important "to think of those who have lost their lives in order to thank them for their lives and to acknowledge the inexpressible pain of parting."
