The
airline low cost JetSmart
defined 2021 as a year of recovery and transition.
After being eight months without being able to operate during 2020 due to the restrictions established to stop the pandemic, the airline is
focused on generating more connectivity
between the provinces of Argentina and
announced two new routes with two weekly flights
.
One of them will make the
Buenos Aires-Posadas route
, capital of Misiones, leaving from Aeroparque.
The project began to take shape in 2019 and despite the isolation due to the coronavirus, work continued to carry it out.
The trip will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays and the
first takeoff will be on June 22
.
“This means
more development and work
.
It generates a lot of expectation in the sector because everything was reduction and closure until today that it is expanding.
It is a possibility to start again, fundamentally in Posadas, a city that until 2019 had an increase in passengers and an airport that already received six weekly frequencies.
Today is hope for all the missionaries who are linked to tourism, there are more than 25 thousand families that make a living from this activity ”, said José María Arrúa, Minister of Tourism of that province.
JetSmart will fly to Posadas for the first time on June 22.
Local authorities and company executives continue to work together with the objective of launching direct sections from Puerto Iguazú - one of the cities most affected by Covid-19 according to Governor Oscar Herrera Ahuad - and Santiago de Chile.
JetSmart already runs that route with the Brazilian side of the Falls.
To Corrientes
The other route will be
Buenos Aires-Corrientes
, also with departures from Aeroparque.
“We are remote provinces and
connectivity is essential
.
It allows us to consolidate a region.
More than 35 thousand people from Corrientes depend on tourism directly or indirectly.
We understand that through nature tourism, with links to the outdoors and ecotourism, we can really build a future for the people of Corrientes and for that it is essential that the private sector believe in investing in our province ”, said the Minister of Tourism of Corrientes, Sebastián Slobayen.
The first trip will be made on June 25.
Flights will depart on Monday and Friday.
Tickets for both routes are already
on sale
through the page https://jetsmart.com/ar/es/ at
1,999 pesos final per section
and can be paid in up to 6 installments without interest.
JetSmart will arrive in Corrientes from June 25.
Connect provinces
Gonzalo Perez Corral, General Manager of JetSmart in Argentina spoke about the need to
connect provinces without going through Buenos Aires
.
“The Córdoba Bariloche flights have been super successful, so there is no doubt that Córdoba is a very important place.
In Rosario we are going to bet on a route that connects this city of Santa Fe with Neuquén.
We already have another one that no one operated, which is Neuquén Salta, ”he added.
For Easter, the company expects to have a fourth A320 aircraft available at Aeroparque.
According to Darío Ratinoff, Commercial Manager in Argentina, the most chosen destinations for that long weekend are Iguazú and cities in Patagonia such as Bariloche.
He also confirmed that the domestic flight operation is above the first quarter of 2020 and 95 percent of the fleet is active.
Travel abroad
A few days ago, the company made the first flight after the restrictions to Santiago de Chile.
They hope that the affiliate from that country will also be able to set foot on Argentine soil soon.
“We have plans to
fly internationally from Aeroparque
and to Aeroparque to other places where we are already present, such as Peru.
But don't forget the importance of being competitive with shipping rates.
It is a reality now more than before.
It is a dollar rate and with the devaluation it becomes an important part of the total bill therefore you have to be competitive.
In the case of Puerto Iguazú and Foz de Iguazú, the rates are much lower on the Brazilian side, so it is an issue that we cannot forget.
We cannot pay 70 dollars in Argentina when in other countries they pay 15 ”, said Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSmart.
And Perez Corral added: “We did a pilot test that connected Córdoba with the Chilean capital, we were not so well known at that time and a devaluation appeared and it became difficult to collect fees.
On the Argentine side, the rates do not have any type of promotion in these locations and it makes the success of that route very difficult for us ”.
